Mick Herron, creator of Slow Horses, has been awarded the Diamond Dagger for his outstanding contributions to crime writing, a true honor in the literary world.
Herron, who’s 61 and lives in Oxford, expressed his joy. He said it’s a career highlight and a personal joy to receive this from his peers. He’s been part of the crime writing community for a long time.
His Slough House series, featuring MI5 agents, has even been turned into a hit Apple TV show. Gary Oldman stars in it, which is pretty cool! Plus, his Zoë Boehm series is getting a TV adaptation too, with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson.
The CWA, founded in 1953, has recognized many great authors over the years. Previous winners include big names like Lee Child and Val McDermid.
Mick’s latest book, Clown Town, is coming out in September. It’s the ninth in the Slough House series, and fans can’t wait! The Diamond Dagger will be presented at the CWA Dagger Awards on July 3. What an exciting time for him!
