Washington: So, Donald Trump recently floated the idea that Elon Musk could buy TikTok. It’s a big deal because TikTok’s future in the US is pretty shaky right now.
The Supreme Court just upheld a ban on TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, sells it. There are worries about China accessing user data, which could lead to some serious issues.
Trump, who once tried to ban the app, is now saying he wants to make a deal. He mentioned he’s met with TikTok’s big owners and thinks someone should buy it and share it with the US.
When asked about Musk, he said he’d be open to it. He even joked about wanting Larry Ellison from Oracle to get involved too. It’s all a bit wild, right?
Interestingly, Trump admitted he doesn’t have TikTok on his phone but might download it. He feels he won the young vote through TikTok, so he’s got a soft spot for it.
During his inauguration, TikTok’s CEO was there, along with other tech giants like Musk and Zuckerberg. Trump claims every rich person has been asking him about TikTok.
