A grandmother was left shaken after a fighter jet’s pylon fell near her home, raising safety concerns in the quiet village of Haisthorpe, East Yorkshire.
The jet had taken off from RAF Coningsby, which is about 66 miles away. Now, the air force is looking into what happened. Deborah said it was terrifying. She worried that if it had fallen a bit closer, it could have hit her house or even someone on the road.
She also thought about the nearby train line. That could have been dangerous too. After the bang, she and her husband Shaun went to check it out. They found the metallic pylon in a field, surrounded by a small crater and guarded by a policeman.
Deborah snapped a photo and recalled the officer telling them to move back. He was on his radio, saying there might be chemicals involved. Later that night, Shaun saw lights in the field as uniformed men removed the pylon.
Deborah expressed her concerns, saying, “I don’t know if they would have kept it quiet if no one had seen it. Things like that need to be public.” An RAF spokesperson confirmed the incident and said they are investigating how the pylon detached from the aircraft.
