Huddersfield: A tragic incident unfolded when Marcin Kramarski, 43, was jailed for starting a fire. This fire led to the death of his flatmate, Raimondas Vejelis, 52.

The blaze broke out on February 14 last year in Hillhouse Lane, Fartown. It was a terrifying night for everyone involved. A family living upstairs had to escape quickly. A mother even threw her child from a second-floor window to save them.

Kramarski was found guilty of manslaughter and arson. The trial took place at Leeds Crown Court. He received a sentence of 21 years and six months.

The fire started in a wheelie bin that Kramarski had pushed against the building. Investigators confirmed it was no accident. Kramarski’s injuries were consistent with someone who started the fire.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson led the investigation. She expressed relief that the family upstairs managed to escape. She emphasized how reckless it is to start a fire in a residential area.

Kramarski’s actions caused immense trauma and loss. Now, he must face the consequences of his choices while serving his time in prison.
