Huddersfield: A shocking incident unfolded when a teacher, David Crowther, abused a young boy. This happened during a home visit in the 1970s. The boy was just 11 years old and excited to show off his model airplanes.

Crowther, now 83, took advantage of the situation. He assaulted the boy in his bedroom while his parents were downstairs. The court heard how the victim still remembers the awful smell of Crowther’s breath during the attack.

Crowther was found guilty of multiple counts of indecent assault. He had a history of similar offenses, including abusing two teenagers he groomed through a church choir.

In 2019, he was sentenced to over three years in prison for those crimes. The court revealed that Crowther had been fined for offenses against young boys back in the 1970s.

During the recent trial, the prosecutor explained how the boy’s offer to show his model airplanes led to the abuse. Crowther’s past behavior was also discussed, showing a pattern of inappropriate actions.

Despite his age and health issues, Crowther was sentenced to two years and four months in prison. The judge noted that the victim’s courage in coming forward was commendable.

Detective Sergeant Emma Maltas emphasized the betrayal of trust in this case. She hopes the victim finds some closure now that justice has been served. The police encourage other victims to come forward, assuring them they will be supported.
