Leeds: The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for snow and wind across Yorkshire this week. It’s going to be a wild ride, so buckle up!

There are three warnings in total. The snow warning covers northern areas like Hawes and Leyburn. Meanwhile, wind warnings stretch across all of Yorkshire.

This snow warning kicks in at 3am on Friday, January 24, and lasts until noon. Expect some serious disruptions on roads and railways.

They mentioned that rain will start moving northeast on Friday morning. Initially, it’ll fall as snow, especially in hilly areas, before turning back to rain.

Snow accumulations will be short-lived, mainly on hills. You might see 2-5 cm above 100 meters and 5-10 cm above 300 meters. But up north, it could stick around longer.

In fact, they’re predicting 15-25 cm of snow above 300 meters in some spots. With strong winds, blizzard conditions could pop up on higher ground.

There’s also an amber wind warning for places like Harrogate, Leeds, and Bradford. This means power cuts and disruptions to transport are likely.

Watch out for flying debris and big waves if you’re near the coast. This warning is in effect from 6am until 9pm on Friday.

Storm Éowyn is set to sweep across the northwest of the UK, bringing some seriously strong winds. Expect gusts of 60-90 mph in exposed areas.

While there might be a brief lull in wind strength, it’ll pick up again quickly. Winds should start to ease later on Friday, but be careful out there!

For most of Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, York, and Hull, a yellow wind warning is also in place. This runs from midnight to 11:59pm on Friday.

So, keep an eye on the weather and stay safe. Storm Éowyn is no joke!
