Many are shocked to learn that dangerous sharks are found in UK waters
London: You might think sharks are only in far-off places, right? Well, think again! There are actually some dangerous sharks swimming around in UK waters.
It’s a bit surprising, but sightings of these sharks have been reported. So, before you dive into the sea, you might want to reconsider!
First up is the basking shark. It’s the biggest shark in UK waters, reaching up to 12 meters. But don’t worry, it only eats plankton, so it’s pretty harmless.
Then there’s the Mako shark. This one has a danger rating of 8 out of 10. It’s fast and can grow up to 12 feet long. While it’s considered dangerous, attacks on humans are rare.
Next is the blue shark, which is curious but not aggressive. It’s responsible for a few bites worldwide, but they’re not common.
We also have the porbeagle shark. It’s related to the more feared sharks but rarely attacks humans. There have been only two unprovoked attacks recorded.
Lastly, there’s the thresher shark. It’s a skilled hunter but shy and harmless to people. So, while these sharks are around, they’re not out to get you!
