Plans to Transform First-Class Yorkshire Hotel into 12 Holiday Homes

Whitby: A lovely hotel in Whitby is on the verge of a big change. The Langley Hotel, known for its top-notch service, might soon be turned into 12 holiday homes. Lodestone Projects Ltd has pitched this idea to the North Yorkshire Council.

The hotel, located at 16 Royal Crescent, is in a charming area called West Cliff. It’s also part of Whitby’s conservation zone, which is pretty cool. Back in 2023, this hotel was listed for sale at £850,000 and had a five-star rating on Tripadvisor.

However, the building needs some TLC. The roof is in bad shape and needs replacing. The plans include fixing up the rooflights and giving the inside a fresh look. They want to modernize the fixtures and finishes to make it more appealing.

The proposal also mentions a property management plan. This means there will be 24-hour phone support and a local team to handle any maintenance issues. The layout will be tweaked a bit to create twelve cozy suites, each with a bedroom, ensuite, and a little seating area.

The applicant believes these changes will help preserve the hotel’s charm and make it more attractive to holidaymakers. It sounds like a win-win for the building and the community!
