Alnwick: Royal Mail is in a bit of a pickle right now. They’ve announced major delivery delays in 14 areas across the UK. It’s all due to staff shortages, with many employees on sick leave.

They usually aim to deliver six days a week, but this week is different. Some folks might have to wait longer for their mail and packages.

On their website, Royal Mail mentioned that they’re trying to deliver to all addresses. But in some local offices, that’s just not happening right now.

They said, “In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues.” It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.

Here’s a quick list of the affected postcodes: Alnwick, Ashington, Billesdon, Boston, Dudley, Heywood, Hull, Hungerford, Huntingdon, Lanark, Leicester, Manchester, Sleaford, and Southgate.

To tackle these delays, Royal Mail is sending extra support to the offices that need it. They’re also planning to rotate deliveries to help out individual customers.

They apologized for the hassle and promised to keep everyone updated on the situation. Sundays are the only days they don’t deliver, and first-class mail usually arrives the next day.

In a recent proposal to Ofcom, Royal Mail suggested cutting Saturday deliveries for second-class mail and only delivering every other weekday. Lindsey Fussell from Ofcom said they want to ensure the best outcome for consumers if changes are made.
