Hebden Bridge celebrates the end of its infamous sinkhole with joy and humor, as locals share laughs and memories on social media.
Hebden Bridge: The famous hole in the road is finally gone, and everyone is celebrating. The locals are sharing jokes and funny comments about their viral sensation.
It all started with a collapsed sewer that turned into a big deal. People even gave it 5-star reviews! GenErika, the local drag queen, made a special appearance at the site.
She said, “Let’s remember the fun times we had with the hole.” GenErika wanted to celebrate her nomination for the Pride of Todmorden, so she did a photo shoot at the site.
She mentioned that the hole didn’t affect her much since her shows were in Todmorden. But she knew it impacted local businesses. So, she aimed to spread some joy through her art.
The hole opened up in December on the A646 Halifax Road, closing the road for weeks. But now, one lane is open again, controlled by traffic lights.
On social media, the Hebden Bridge group was thrilled, saying, “It’s time to dance and sing! The famous hole is no longer a hole.”
People are curious if there will be a rush of drivers now that the road is open. The council announced that the repairs were tricky due to the weather, but everything is fixed now.
A spokesperson from Yorkshire Water thanked everyone for their patience during the repairs. They worked hard in tough conditions to get it done quickly.
Cllr Sarah Courtney from Calderdale Council said it’s great news that the road is partially reopened. They’re asking people not to park near the work site to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
GenErika’s next show is coming up soon, so there’s more fun to look forward to!
