A 16-year-old footballer from Aberdeenshire tragically passed away from sepsis, initially mistaken for flu, leaving her family and community heartbroken.
Turriff: It’s such a heartbreaking story. Orla Taylor, just 16, loved football. She started feeling unwell right after Christmas. At first, it seemed like a simple cough and fever. Her family thought it was just the flu.
But things took a terrible turn. Her dad, Scott, shared how they rushed her to the hospital when she got worse. They were told it was flu twice. Thankfully, the emergency team quickly recognized it as sepsis.
Scott expressed how grateful they were for the care Orla received. The medical team did everything they could. Family members got to say their goodbyes, which was a small comfort in their grief.
Orla was not just a player; she was a coach for Turriff United’s youth team. The club remembered her as a bright light and a role model. They’re all still in shock and mourning her loss.
A service to celebrate her life is set for January 27 at Fyvie Parish Church. It’s a tough time for everyone who knew her.
