Southport: A chilling incident almost unfolded when Axel Rudakubana, a troubled teen, tried to head to school armed with knives. Just a week before his attack, his dad caught him trying to leave in a taxi. He was dressed in a “death suit” and had just received the knives he ordered online.

It was the last day of term, and kids were buzzing with excitement for summer break. Rudakubana planned to arrive at Range High School right as students were leaving. He was all masked up, looking suspicious.

But his father, Alphonse, dashed out and stopped the taxi driver from taking him away. A neighbor saw the drama unfold and said the dad was begging the driver not to go. Thankfully, Rudakubana got out, but it was a close call.

Just a week later, he tried again. This time, he made it to Southport and tragically attacked three young girls at a dance class. It’s heartbreaking to think about what could have happened if his dad hadn’t intervened.

Parents are understandably shaken. One mom expressed her fears about what could have happened at the school. She felt a chill knowing how close they came to a disaster.

Rudakubana, now 18 and diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, had left Range High School in 2019. He moved to a specialist school for his studies. He was set to face trial for multiple charges, including murder.

In a surprising twist, he pleaded guilty to all charges, shocking everyone, including the judge. Sadly, the families of the victims weren’t present to hear his plea, as they thought the trial would start the next day.
